We can’t separate our spiritual health from our physical health – they are intricately connected. In this episode, I talk with Dorothy Rischel, PhD, a clinical psychologist and Methodist Minister about the intersection of spirituality and faith and our health. Navigating the physical challenges of illness is challenging. However, when we focus on finding what brings us joy, it often makes the journey a little easier. Join me for a lively discussion with one of my favorite people.

Episode Synopsis: In 1967, Kathrine was the first woman to run the Boston Marathon as an officially registered female. A mile and a half into the race, the race manager assaulted her to get her out of the race. He failed. Kathrine finished the race and went to become a visionary and pioneer for women’s long-distance running. Her relentless passion to grow women’s marathons all of the world, along with her tireless passion to get the women’s marathon into the Olympics changed women’s sports forever. In this episode, I talk with Kathrine about how she stayed focused, kept going, and her non-profit 261 Fearless. Kathrine’s courage and dedication to women’s sports cleared the way and will continue to clear the way for generations of women.

Episode Synopsis: Grief is something we all have experienced. Whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a friendship, or a pet, it’s a very personal journey. In this episode, we explore grief and how it’s possible to use it as a jumping off point for creating a more intentional and purposeful life. Grief is a hard path but think for a moment, how would you answer the question, “What is the most amazing thing that could come from this?” The answer may surprise you.
After Thoughts: I met Rob on LinkedIn when he reached out to me after listening to my podcast. He thought I was doing important work and, like most of us do, reached out to me to share his story. After that, I started following his work and in one post, when talking about the loss of his wife, he said he asked himself, “What is the most amazing thing that could come from this?” It stopped me cold. It forced me to rethink how I was grieving. What could be the most amazing thing to come from losing my brother? What could, indeed.

The Donut Diaries with Rachel Lavin
Episode Synopsis: Rachel is a personal trainer who has had her share of issues with her body. I bought her book, The Donut Diaries: A personal trainer’s tale of being every size from 12 through 0 and found her to be brutally honest and provided an interesting perspective being in the fitness industry. In this episode we talk about some of the diet myths that we’ve all bought into and how to break free from the social constructions that dictate how we move through the world. I know you’ll find our conversation not only informative but helpful as you navigate your own health journey.
After Thoughts: I had a blast talking with Rachel. She’s funny but her message is clear: start loving your body now, no waiting until it’s a perfect size (whatever that size is). I found our conversation empowering and I think you will, too. I bet you walk away with some great tips for loving ourselves right now, I did.

Episode Synopsis: One of the reasons I wanted to do this podcast was to hear about how other people successfully navigate their weight loss journeys. I wanted to find out what daily actions and habits they found worked to keep them on track and how they kept motivated. I also wanted to find out what made them get started in the first place. In this episode, we talk with Kecia Jackson, a nurse and grandmother, who has lost 70 lbs and has built a healthy lifestyle through nutritious eating and fitness. Her honest approach to what it takes to make real lifestyle changes is refreshing. I learned a lot from Kecia and I think you will, too.
After Thoughts: I’ve had the honor of working with Kecia and watching her transformation first-hand. I’m a huge fan of anyone who transforms their lives and keeps their sense of humor during their journey. Kecia is the epitome of someone who set a goal and worked it daily to make it happen. I have enjoyed every moment of working with Kecia and I’m sure you can imagine all of the awesome conversations we’ve had along the way, including this one. Kecia is truly inspiring.
